This Continuing Legal Education course is designed to equip attorneys with a comprehensive understanding of the Veterans Administration (VA) benefits system. This course offers a deep dive into the various types of benefits available to veterans, including health care, disability compensation, pension benefits, and more. Participants will learn about the legal requirements for representing veterans in VA claims, the accreditation process, and the essential strategies for navigating the complex VA system. By the end of this course, attorneys will be well-prepared to assist veterans in obtaining the benefits they have earned through their service.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the VA Benefits System: Gain a thorough understanding of the different types of benefits available to veterans, including health care, disability compensation, pension, and burial benefits.

Chris Johnson is an attorney and partner at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law in Hendersonville, Tennessee. With over 20 years of combined legal and military experience, Chris specializes in elder law, estate planning, and VA benefits planning. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the College of William and Mary School of Law. Chris has served as an Infantry Officer and Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a Major.  Chris is an active community member and a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and Rotary International.  He is also the co-host of the "Aging Starts Now" podcast, providing valuable insights on elder care and legal issues.
