Description

The Art of Ethical Client Selection is a CLE course designed to help attorneys navigate the complex process of selecting clients ethically and prudently. Led by Noah Fiedler, an experienced legal ethics expert, this course explores best practices for client intake, recognizing red flags, and avoiding common pitfalls that can lead to malpractice claims or professional discipline. By focusing on ethical guidelines, risk management, and effective communication, this course equips attorneys with practical tools for making informed decisions during the client selection process, protecting both their practice and reputation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify and evaluate common red flags in prospective clients.
  2. Understand the ethical obligations involved in client selection, particularly under ABA Model Rule 1.18.
  3. Implement best practices for documenting client communications and decisions.
  4. Apply ethical strategies for disengaging from clients or declining representation.
