Description

The Stop Lawyersplaining: Effective Estate Planning Communication CLE course is designed to equip legal professionals with the necessary skills to communicate complex estate planning concepts in a clear and understandable manner to clients. In this course, participants will learn the importance of educating clients, techniques for effective communication, and strategies to mitigate risk through informed consent. By enhancing communication skills and employing practical methods, attorneys can improve client understanding, reduce the risk of misunderstandings, and ultimately provide better representation in estate planning matters.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the importance of educating clients in estate planning matters, including the necessity of informed consent and risk mitigation.
  2. Learn how to communicate complex legal concepts in terms that clients can understand
  3. Discover strategies for stopping lawyersplaining, including responding directly to clients, using visual aids effectively, employing concise language, storytelling, and using numeric examples.
  4. Gain insights into the internal memo process and its significance in communicating research-based facts and significant information within legal practice.
