Description

The Interacting Professionally with People with Disabilities CLE course offers legal professionals a thorough understanding of how to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals with disabilities. Through this course, participants will explore the diversity of disabilities, legal requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the importance of inclusion, diversity, equity, and belonging in the legal profession. By examining professional responsibilities, ethical practices, and actionable steps for promoting disability inclusion, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to create an inclusive environment and provide equitable legal services to all clients.

 Learning Objectives:

  1. Define what constitutes a disability and recognize the diversity of disabilities.
  2. Understand the legal requirements outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other relevant laws pertaining to disability rights.
  3. Explore the professional and ethical obligations of lawyers in providing legal services to individuals with disabilities.
  4. Identify strategies for promoting disability inclusion, diversity, equity, and belonging within the legal profession.
  5. Implement actionable steps to interact professionally with people with disabilities, including the use of inclusive language, prioritizing accessibility, and examining personal and systematic biases.
  6. Recognize the benefits of creating accessible environments for individuals with disabilities and the broader community.

Frost Brown Todd


Christina Wieg focuses her practice on environmental litigation, transactional and regulatory matters, including work involving the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and other major state and federal environmental regulatory programs.

Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Christina was employed by Ohio EPA for more than a dozen years, rising to the level of Supervisor in the Division of Air Pollution Control.  There, she performed and oversaw compliance inspections, the drafting and negotiation of state and federal air permits, administrative and judicial enforcement actions, and all other functions of the Division.  Her regulatory experience spans numerous industries, including ferro-alloy production, paper mills, asphalt plants, and oil and gas facilities, including wellpads, midstream facilities and fractionation plants.

Christina graduated summa cum laude from Capital University Law School in 2019 and was awarded the prestigious American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education Scholarship and Leadership Award, which recognizes the single graduate who best represents a combination of scholarship and leadership.
